Woman Saves Drowning Osprey with an Oar and Finds Out That Talons Really Hurt

It turns out that you can save a drowning osprey but that doesn’t mean it’s going to go out of its way to say thank you.

This mother and her family were out for a day on the water when they came across an osprey that was clearly in distress in the middle of the water. After trolling up to it she grabbed an oar and stuck it out so the bird could get on it. When it took advantage of her extended paddle it got as close to her end as possible and ended up wrapping its talons around her finger and cutting it open.

It’s awesome that they rescued the osprey but it is a reminder that wild animals are completely unpredictable, especially when they’re in distress.
