Overdramatic Weatherman Braces For Hurricane Florence…As Two Guys Stroll By

Hurricane Florence is currently in the process of hammering the Carolinas with some seriously bad weather. As a result, weather people and storm chasers are getting as close as possible to cover the storm as it unfolds.

Meteorologists all have their own reporting style but one of them, in particular, got a little ahead of himself, which can be seen in a clip posted to Twitter.

So dramatic! Dude from the weather channel bracing for his life, as 2 dudes just stroll past. #HurricaneFlorence pic.twitter.com/8FRyM4NLbL

Mike Seidel from the Weather Channel is the epitome of overdramatic in this video.

While it starts out looking like he’s in the middle of some brutally high winds as he leans into them so he doesn’t fall over. It looks intense and potentially slightly dangerous — then two guys casually stroll by in the background.

With the damage this storm is doing on the coast right now, purposely covering it in a less than truthful manner doesn’t do anyone any good and ends up making them look like they’re overdramatizing a situation for more viewers.

They did end up with more viewers, but it definitely wasn’t for anything positive as the clip went viral with many calling them out for fake news coverage.

The Weather Channel did end up issuing the following statement, but it’s a little hard to believe: “It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted.”

Saying that Seidel was trying to keep his footing on wet grass is about as believable as him acting like he’s two feet away from a tornado. It looks more like he’s standing on a slide covered in oil from how hard he’s leaning so he can “maintain his footing.”
