Justice Scalia Dies at Ranch Among Secret Society of Elite Hunters

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death on Feb. 13 among members of the International Order of St. Hubertus raised several questions about the secretive society.

Dating back to the 1600s, this Austrian society honors Hubert, patron saint of hunters and fishermen and considers itself, “a true knightly order in the historical tradition,” according the their website.

Scalia, 79, was in the company of 35 members at Cibolo Creek Ranch when he died.

It’s not clear if Scalia was a member of the group himself, he had flown in with Cibolo Creek Ranch owner John Poindexter and Washington lawyer C. Allen Foster by private plane.
