Huge 15-Foot Blue Marlin Smashes Ladies World Record

Kona’s Jada Holt traveled around the globe to capture a 1,305-pound Atlantic blue marlin at Ascension Island in the South Atlantic. Holt’s monster has been submitted to the International Gamefish Association (IGFA) for approval as the ladies’ world record for the species using 130-pound class tackle.

According to Jim Rizzuto, “Jada caught her first world record in 2002 at the age of 10 and she put her last 13 years of experience to work immediately after the fish hit a trolling lure.  With BT’s expert boat handling skills, they got the huge marlin to the boat in a quick 15 minutes to secure the potential record.” For the rest of the in-depth story from Jim, click here

Olaf Grimkowski posted on his Facebook page, “OK I´m still a little drunk but I´ll try ! Jada Holt Daugter of Kona captain Chip(Brian) van Chip Van Mols caught this epic 1305 pound atlantic blue marlin (pending womens 130 pound WR) yesterday. The measurements were 154 inches short lenght, 78 inch girth (82 on the analfin) and again 19 and a half on the tail. The fish was caught out of Pillar bay on the Andrew Moyes XL Pusherman . We caught it after a long run in just 15 minutes. Thanks to everybody great teamwork!”
