Joshua Butterworth and Jethro Bonnichta spent 10 days fishing in Western Australia and caught an impressive 30 sharks. But, that’s not what’s grabbing headlines. It’s their two massive sharks that are going viral. One is a tiger shark, and the other is a hammerhead.
Bonnichta, who spent an hour and a half battling the 13.5-foot hammerhead, which stripped out 2,600 feet of line three times, collapsed from exhaustion afterward. The tiger shark took 30 to 40 minutes to land, presumably by Bonnichta (it was unclear who caught it), and was also over 13-feet long according to GrindTV.
Both sharks were released alive. “We take a lot of care in making sure they go back and making sure they are going to swim off strongly,” he told Yahoo News. “We could have killed them and claimed records but we let them go because they were still healthy.”
