Last 4th of July in southwest Florida, thousands of families lined the shores of the Manatee River between the cities of Bradenton and Palmetto to watch the annual fireworks launched from the “Green Bridge” connecting the two. One blinking red light hung in the air surrounded by explosions, that of a Phantom 2 GoPro quadcopter drone piloted by Outdoors360 and Salt Life team member Courtland Hunt. Launched from a boat below, it crossed in and out, occasionally getting rocked off-course by exploding mortars. The drone survived with some burn marks to fly another day and possibly left thousands thinking they’d witnessed a fireworks-curious UFO.
