VIDEO: Scientists Spot Massive Pacific Sleeper Shark 4,370-Feet Deep Inside Underwater Volcano

Scientists were shocked at a run-in they had with an unexpected guest while surveying Pele’s Pit, an active submarine volcano, on Lōʻihi Seamount. The scientists were in a submarine when a massive Pacific Sleeper Shark popped up out of nowhere, swimming in from the right side of the camera.

The shark was recorded at the bottom of the pit, which is 4,370-feet deep. The crew onboard was noticeably excited when the shark swam into view. Even though there was a bait station setup nearby, it usually on attracted smaller fish and ocean life.
