Lars White knew one thing for certain when his 6-year-old son, Blake, snagged a great shite shark when the family was fishing off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on Saturday, they were going to need a bigger boat.
White, a resident of Houston, estimates the shark was 10 to 12-feet-long. He says he and his son spent an hour and a half battling the shark as it tried to free itself. Lars finally cut the shark free after it surfaced, allowing White’s wife to take some pictures.
Spotting a great white in Cape Cod isn’t anything new, sharks have been showing up in increased numbers over the last several years.
When asked about the encounter and if he wants to go fishing again, Blake said he would like to “catch something a little bit smaller.”
