The incredible video and the MORE incredible story of the record setting bass for Ron Ryals … and the rest of his story. I’m honored to fish with Ron, coach with Ron, and to simply be around his infectious smile and love of life! Ron is the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America) Bass Tour’s 2 time Angler of Year and has taught me more about bass fishing than anyone else.
On this day at Bienville Plantation we caught over 60 fish, but Ron’s 10lbs 15oz giant bass was the largest ever caught on a Rapala X-rap prop (the color was yellow perch). The conditions were perfect for targeting big fish. The middle of spring, overcast, mild temperatures, and a consistent weather pattern. The miraculous part of this catch can be seen in the video.
This giant was tangled in a huge pile of hydrilla at the bottom of the lake. At one point it looks like Ron is actually trying to break the line because she had disappeared and wouldn’t budge. A little while later, she came up with a pile of hydrilla and luckily she didn’t come unbuttoned!
