There may be no such thing as a pink panther, but no one ever said anything about pink hippos.

This recent unusual sighting was spotted by a French couple at the Masai Mara National Reserve located in Kenya.

The coloration of the incredibly rare pink hippopotamus is the result of a skin condition call leucism, meaning a partial loss of pigmentation, which is why the hippo still has gray spots on its body.

Although this hippo seems to fit right in with the rest of the herd, unfortunately its skin hue may put it in more danger from sunburn and predators since it doesn’t have the typical dark gray skin that allows hippos to blend in with their surroundings.
