If you’re finding it tough to figure out just what it is you’re looking at when you look at this deer, you aren’t alone.

This bizarre deer breed has had people stumped since Kris Helms posted the picture to his Facebook of man who was unknown at the time and a massive deer with some bizarre characteristics.

People have claimed the deer is everything from a deformed white-tail to an expert photoshop job. With a neck that big (it’s almost as thick as its body for crying out loud!) and those antlers, it certainly seems like the picture has to be edited. But it’s not.

It turns out the deer is actually a hybrid between a Chinese sika and an elk, according to Lalo Serrano, who’s the man in the picture. The picture was from a recent trip he had taken to China.
