Hash Browns Recalled After Company Says They’re Full of Golf Balls

Products get recalled all the time for varying reasons, but McCain Foods USA, Inc. recently recalled bags of their Roundy’s Brand, 2 lb. Bag of Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns and Harris Teeter Brand, 2 lb. Bag of Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns for a very bizarre reason. They believed the bags of cubed potatoes had crushed up golf balls mixed in with them.

“McCain Foods USA, Inc. announced today it is voluntarily recalling retail, frozen hash brown products that may be contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials, that despite our stringent supply standards may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make this product,” the company said in a statement on Friday. “Consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth.”

While there have definitely been product’s that have had much more disgusting discoveries, finding a golf ball in your sack of potatoes is pretty bizarre. We’re assuming the potato fields that McCain uses must be right by a driving range, unless their farmers love working on their handicap during their lunch break.
