Inside the Mind of Kevin “KVD” VanDam

There isn’t anyone else in the bass fishing world like KVD. As the all-time money winner in professional bass fishing, it’d be a challenge to find anyone with more knowledge on what it takes to compete at the top.

With career earning of $6.38 million as of June, 22 career BASS tournament series wins, 113 top 10 finishes and the first-ever Outdoorsman of the Year at the 2002 ESPY Awards, it’s refreshing to see he’s just as down to earth now as he was at the start of his career.

It’s clear he loves what he does. From the ups and downs of watching beautiful sunrises, sunsets and fishing anytime he wants, to living on the road for months at a time and subsiding on fast-food, there’s nothing he’d rather be doing.

“I’ve been fortunate to have a really good career in fishing for a lot of years,” says KVD. “But I also know that it’s not gonna last forever. As long as I feel like I’m competitive, as long as I feel like I’ve got a chance to be out there and compete at the top level and to be able to win, this is what I love to do – good, bad or indifferent.”
