Camping World Buys Gander Mountain With $390 Million Winning bid

After months of speculation of who will end up with Gander Mountain (if anyone) after the outdoor retailer filed for bankruptcy, we finally have our answer. Camping World Holdings Inc. bought Gander Mountain with a winning bid of $390 million. The results of the bid still need to undergo final approval from a U.S. bankruptcy court judge, but everything looks good.

Just what exactly is Camping World going to do with their $390 million purchase? They plan to operate 17 Gander Mountain stores and an auction for Gander Mountain’s other 100-plus leases will be held later on.

Camping World also receives all of Gander Mountain’s intellectual property and it’s Overton’s boating business.

This is just the latest in a massive set of changes across the sporting goods industry. With Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s planning to merge at some point this year in a $5 billion deal, the world of outdoors retailers is set up for some major changes.
