Man and His Dog Injured in Suburban Bear Attack

With a constantly growing bear population, some areas of Florida are having a increased bear-related incidents. Most recently, a Gulf Breeze man and his dog were both attacked where they sustained non life threatening injuries.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the home of the victim. The attack occurred while the dog was out in the front yard and a bear approached, attacked it and the owner when the owner came to the dogs aid.

FWC is investigating the attack and setting up trapping efforts in the area to help prevent any further attacks.

It’s best to secure garbage and any other items that may attract bears whenever possible. Unfortunately, bears that frequent populated areas start to lose their fear of humans, which can make incidents like this more frequent.
