3 Shark Attacks in 2 Hours at Same Florida Beach

In what may be the most intense span of documented shark attacking in U.S. history, 3 surfers were attacked in the span of just a few hours Sunday off New Smyrna Beach according to Volusia County lifeguards.

According to WOFL Fox 35 : Lifeguards said the first bite happened at 10:43 a.m. A 43-year-old man from Longwood was surfing when he was bit on the lower leg. He was transported to the hospital.

The second victim was a 36-year-old man from Miami who was bit on both hands at around 11 a.m. Lifeguards said he suffered significant lacerations and was taken to the hospital.

The third victim was a 16-year-old from New Smyrna Beach. Lifeguards said he was surfing when he was bit on the inner thigh at around 1 p.m. Officials said he was not taken to the hospital.

Officials said all three bites happened near the jetty at New Smyrna Beach.

While it’s not reported in national media, we’re very aware that the Mullet Run is going on throughout the East Coast of Florida, so the apex predators (sharks, tarpon, jacks, and more) are in an unusually more aggressive mode. See the amazing video below from BlackTipH!
